The Mission
I love them all who named for heroes came first
And swallow them in great gulps of legend thirst
Would not negotiate. But the hibiscus red
And challenging the sun has my blood in it.
All that vision that uncomposing them, led
Me across the Jordan in kindred spirit
Once more, staggering at the lack of faith heaped
Like a dune before our will. Nothing broke you
It was the little pool wept, and was not leaped
That seemed to drown us in sparkling of dew.
