The "mighty" Kern

Most of us think of rivers as women- ever changing like their moods, but mine was a man - a lover - a friend, The Mighty Kern. Like the rapids- his life, his pain, his love rushed through my veins and had the power to change the boulders of hurt into tiny grains of sand,... fine enough to trickle out of me like the sand in an hourglass. His smile warmed me like the sun would a tree on the bank on a frosty morn. And those eyes - deep like the forest that surrounds. His love overflowed like the river as it reached the dam,... Hi Michael, Wow it's a small world. I no longer live in N Calif, but I'll never forget that angry river, or my late husband Kern. I have since married and we live in Ohio,....funny how things change! Thank you for the nice review.

Cheryl - You know "The Kern" holds a very special meaning to me - In 1964 I watched my mother drown in that river at the age of 4 - Very beautiful poetry - he must be someone very special - Like Merle i moved away to Northern California in 1988 - Just to much history i reckon - Stay down and stay true home girl - Be careful in that River, Unlike my mother don't become a statistic on that sign at the Mouth of the Canyon - God Bless, MJ
