The Merged Shadows

THE MERGED SHADOWS
We walked under the mid-day sun together Blazing glowing furrows across life’s meadow, The sun won’t shine long, we didn’t bother, We trampled our shrunk shapeless shadows. In the twilight gleam of the setting sun Lengthening shadows defined our time diffuse Reminding us a new journey in haze had begun, We’d see our senile shadows sprawl and fuse. When from us blue glaze of the sky would be gone In falling light our shadows would mark the path to follow, When the cold sun would start to sink down the horizon We‘d merge and become the essence of soft shadows.
