The Melancholy of a Poet

Melancholy in the heart of a poet, Is like ten smiles of a summer gaze; Tho' with sadness he may oft be greeted, Yet in such may lie his sunniest days. For when anon the world is muted And nature in its softest voice speaks, The melancholic heart of a true poet Often ascends to the highest peaks.
