The Meeting

As he spoke about his recent milestone of staying clean
His eyes gleamed with a mist of hope, peace and fear
I have been clean and sober for one year he stated with staggering confidence
I’m 40 years old now I can not play around anymore (it’s NOW or NEVER)
Then he proceeded to recite his past victory…..the longest I stayed clean was for two years
then I messed up this can never happen again….never….
At that moment I realized the strength, courage and beauty of the human spirit
This stranger whom I met just minutes ago has shared with me his most vulnerable,
embarrassing experience in his life
Today I celebrate LIFE….
VICTORY…..
HEALING
For all the fallen victims of
 DRUGS & SUBSTANCE ABUSE….
I LOVE YOU AND WILL BE PRAYING FOR YOU
