Life journey begins in joy innocent,
until heart’s replaced by mind,
granting no longer pulse of love consent,
whilst enmeshed in earth life grind,
with fears strengthening their bind.
Believing ourself to be mind-body,
we pursue objects of desire,
bemused by our ego’s cravings shoddy,
fickle heart remains afire,
until one day when we tire.
Ephemeral offers not joy eternal,
simple truth we realise,
thus shift into staid silence internal,
ceasing to weigh and size,
heeding counsel of monks wise.
No sooner thought flow ceases in stillness,
our will to God’s laws bends,
we’re ensconced in rapture of blissfulness,
throb of love, fissures mends,
joyous soul thus ascends.
