The Mask Question

Beneath this mask we’re encouraged to wear,
is a muffled question without definitive resolve.
Is it to cover our anguish, suffering and despair,
or will it actually speed this pandemic’s dissolve?
None among us know just what lies ahead,
so we mask up, wash often, and social distance.
Not following these directives the virus can spread,
but as with all things some have shown resistance.
