The Mask

I bear emotions that I tend to disguise. If you look deep into my eyes, you might be able to rationalize. I destroy that ounce of pain with a gallon of pride. But sometimes that chip becomes a boulder. It becomes too heavy to hide. Some feelings run deep. About as deep as the Atlantic. Just trying to stay afloat. And not sink like the Titanic. I put some words to a page to ease the tension and make it easier to manage. Troubles run deep. I put my mind to work and let thoughts take advantage. The world is full of metaphors. Opening doors leads to the closing of other doors. Closed doors open new ones. When walking through doors, you never know what's waiting on the other side. Either cradle fear. Or journey through with a graceful stride.
