The Man Before the Addict

I remember our first kiss, effortless and breathless.. The way our hands fit together, perfect and space-less. It seems as although in a blink of an eye both were replaced with fights, restless and endless. I remember the love, warm and strong.. The way we used to smile, many and long. It seems as though just as quick as they started they were gone all that was left was, darkness and emptiness. I remember the man you used to be, caring and kind.. The way you used to always protect me, safe and sound. But the drugs took that away too, soon there was only distance and space. I remember the man before the addict, the love before the pain. That will never change.
