The Magpie

I heard the magpie chortle On a blue sky sunny day She must be so pleased In the Australian native way Then smiling she looks at me And chortles again – will she stay? Black and white proud you see Spreads her wings and flies away The queen of what she sees Do you wish it was you today? © Paul Warren Poetry
