The Lowly Pawn

Now life’s too fast
Awake, the day is gone
To-do lists just keep piling up
I can’t think of what went wrong

I wanna go back to better days
When a hundred was my treasure
When summers always seemed too long,
As established through a child’s measure…
When smiles were easy and abundant
When joy came from the simple things
Good naps, good food, and chocolate
Flying high with imaginary wings

Now life’s too fast
The summer’s gone
In this fast-paced life
I’m just a pawn
Limited in movement
Advancing slowly
The plain little chess pawn
Lacking power, is most lowly

Oops, I just read your "Queen" poem. :) I guess you already thought of my analogy...

Dont forget the power of Pawns, Mel. If they do things right, they are one of the most powerful pieces on the board. A pawn can become ANYTHING. Keep that in mind. Pawns dont look backwards because their goal is infront of them. Dont stop until you get there. Hopefully, I'll be there too :)
