The Love That Was

The love that was
but nevermore can be,
the love I feel
everyday inside of me,
the love that’s you
and every memory
is a love that lasts
beyond the stars and sea.

The love that’s you,
eternally in sight,
the love I cherish
every single night,
the love that lies
always out of reach
knows each time I cry.

The love you gave me
for all eternity
even though you’re gone
stays ever close to me
and always will
forever on.

The love that’s you,
wrapped up inside of me
is the love I know
will always ever be.
