The Lost Love

She sits by the window,
staring into the rain,
listening to its taps
against the windowpane.

She has tears in her eyes,
a rose in her hand,
and torn bitter feelings
of a goodbye never planned.

She thought he really loved her,
until yesterday.
When strangely, he mentioned,
" I have to go away. "

Why he left her,
she didn't truly know.
For some reason, suddenly,
her lover had to go.

She can change her life,
and have a heart of stone.
But that's not her answer,
she didn't want to be alone.

It's not every man's fault,
only he's to blame.
She didn't want to judge
every man the same.

The right man's out there,
she wants to believe.
One who wouldn't leave her,
cheat or deceive.

After crying her last tears,
for him being gone,
she becomes optimistic,
knowing life has to go on.
