The Longest War
With every steak we eat,
Billions more fall at our feet;
With every bite of fish,
We rob the ocean of her gifts
With every drop of oil,
Nature’s bounty do we spoil;
With every burning coal,
We dig our graves and carve their stones
With every person born,
We wage a long and needless war
Against our ancient mother, Earth,
Who first did give our species birth
