The Longest Goodbye
The longest goodbye
I'm a beam of moonshine
i cast my shadow long at night
the gloaming and i sail this ship
that's capsized by the morning light
just before the twilight dies
it gives birth to the mourning blue
i look into its weeping eyes
and the only thing i see is you
the world is shining green and gold
this youthful moments growing old
can anyone repair the dawn?
it broke over my eastern lawn
somewhere the moon is always setting
free-falling toward its ever moving throne
it's confused by the dreams it's getting
the past left the future alone
so every night around THAT time
i'm outside staring at the sky
visually i recite a rhyme
a waving hand, the longest goodbye
