The Long Year

It really made things hard
    Living across the courtyard
And seeing you here and there
But it was a melancholy treat
    To feel so incomplete
A lonely, sweet, aching, blur
So one year I waited
In serene synergy with time
Wrote fire, rhyme, and song
I want to thank you for calling
    And restoring the gnawing
And making the year so long

Sounds like a difficult situation. I liked the line "a lonely, sweet, aching blur
