The Long Thin Line
I've been looking all day for a smile.
Seems that laughter's finally out of style.
And up ahead is another empty mile.
I'm not sure that I want a change
But I don't really want to stay the same.
Can I be faithful to both my heart and mind?
Walking the long thin line...
I've been searching for a place to stay.
I keep searching each and every day.
I've got to wonder if I'm headed the wrong way.
Now I don't want to go and place the blame.
I'm too afraid it will be my name.
And I don't want to take what isn't mine.
Walking the long thin line...
Another step, another day, another mile slips away.
Another hill, another turn. One more lesson to be learned.
Another step, another year. Is my destination near?
Do I move forward? Do I fall behind?
Walking the long thin line...
I’ve been looking my whole life for a song.
I've been thinking, could I have been wrong?
The night is coming fast and I'm not strong.
Now I'm not looking for the end.
I'm just looking for a friend.
Maybe I just want some heavenly sign...
Walking the long thin line...
I've been looking for a place to hide.
Seems that I have looked both far and wide.
And it's been there in front, behind and beside.
Now I'm not looking to place the blame.
All I want is an end to shame.
Be careful, what you look for you will find...
Walking the long thin line...
