The Lonesome Lovebird

So quietly she left
a caged bird escaping into the night
flying into the darkness
vanishing from my sight

Captive she'd been so long
needing to be free
she set her wings into the wind
flew away from me

Now my heart is aching
on my lonely perch I sit and cry
this cage is feeling empty
since she took off to the sky
