The Loch In Winter

Stark shape defined against a winter sky, A dormant beauty perfectly outlined, Stripped bare of leaves, I cannot just pass by. I pause to contemplate this scene sublime And thank the Artist who, perhaps with me in mind, To such effect these wintry elements combined.

There is a sublime quality to your poem, I can picture the scene perfectly. The poet is the Artist, painting a picture in a few short words, kind regards to you Peter, Kevin

Thank you Kevin. The poem was written to accompany a photograph in a Blurb book I have just self-published, "Return to an Island". "I" and "Me" are references to myself as poet and photographer. The "Artist", with capital "A" is God. But the joy of poetry is that we can read into a poem what we like. Thank you indeed for your thoughtful comment.

I am back again for the 4th time. I seem to be mesmerized by the poem but also by the story it creates in my mind. The story becomes clearer with each read.

Well hello again.I'm so pleased that this poem has really resonated with you. You'll see in my reply to Kevin that the Artist (capital "A") is God. This may give yet another way of reading the poem.

Just stopped by for another sojourn. Every time I read this I love it more. Afterward I envision a glowing door opening and a welcome of warmth and home awaiting.
