The Listening Tree
Speak to me and my leaves shall sprout unfolding shade for all
Talk to me and the fruit I bear shall ripen and to the ground fall
Whisper secrets and my roots will bury them deep in earth's soil
Shout in pain and my bark will bear the hurt you curse in toil
Cry and weep and my leaves will brown and be blown away
Murmur softly will I hear as bare branches in the wind sway.
