The Lie

As day's light fades
And darkness creeps in,
I am alone in this lie..
Let the madness begin.
Torn in tiny pieces,
My heart slowly dies.
My soul begins to unravel,
Time to close my eyes.
Brief moments of joy,
Stolen throughout the day
Make me forget,
Help me get away.
This festering lie
Eating away at my heart,
Unfeeling and merciless,
Tearing everything apart.
Here I am stranded,
Alone even with friends.
Hoping for forgiveness
If this night ever ends.
