The Library

Did you ever go to the institution called the Library?
Where quiet is the norm a-la-contrary.
Books in library, any library, are in rows, numbered and tagged aisles.
Where they stand out like a beacon and you can travel to the Hawaiian isles.

Amazing building the library gloomy dimmed aisles and halls.
Shadows beam of the white painted walls.
In the day time a hustle and quiet urgent bustle.
A book waiting for you take, a gold mine found, a hit by the paper rustle.

You can travel to anywhere in the world in the library.
Take a book, study, bingo, presto you are a secretary.
Anything with knowledge is at your fingers demands.
Learning is fun and knowledge is a blessing, understand?

Myself personally, I find shelter in the books, I look at the scope and grandeur.
Books, travel, cook, mysterious, fiction or non-fictional,
I gaze amazingly with wonder.
When I enter, I think, “Where to today? What place today?
There is something in books?
Show me a different and a better way.

So of course me being me, I return again to my Holy Bible.
This has the knowledge, wisdom, love, as I search for my spiritual survival.
I of course have the comfort of knowing that I can learn and travel anywhere.
Even to God’s kingdom searching, looking,
He’ll guide me down those library aisles, and our Lord will get me there.

Your poem reminded me of the first time my mother took me to a library. I was about 6 and just learning to read, but had such a wonderful time that I protested when it was time to leave. Books on faith mean a great deal to me and I have quite a collection of them now. I especially enjoy those on near-death experiences where people report glimpses of the afterlife. You really are an inspiration to me. Would appreciate your prayers Wednesday when I see the neurologist. Love, Carolyn
