The Last Walk

It was as if the rain knew my heart well,
Sheltered in an umbrella, so no one can tell,
I tried to act calm, a smile dangled in vain,
My umbrella broke, tired in the heavy rain.

He smiled and talked in delight, carefree,
I listened, but became lost, could only agree,
Pity I had for his innocent hope,
In silence, I tried to cope.

As I saw my fence, I let the rain slip,
As the umbrella flew, he tried to hold grip,
I let tears flow as I embraced him,
He stood confused, but finally gave in.
