The Last Time It Rained

Listen to poem:
The Last Time it Rained
David J Walker

How can say
you don’t remember
The last time
The scent of moisture
	Teased the scenes

With hope from heaven falling
From the sky
Drenching as it quenches

The dry smoldering fires
From on high

Fulfilling the desires from
Deep within the trenches
That will bleed in the need
Of filling with rain

Mark the missed days by the hue
It’s really only a matter of the
Morning dew

And recognizing the various
Shades of brown

Brown is in sole possession of
The ground between rains

Thank you, Caren. And Thank God for memory that connects us to the days we can call our own.
