The Last Picture Show

Sippin' champagne in your old '69
didn't really know what was on your mind
should've taken you up while the offer was low
but it's kind of late now; it's the last picture show

Headin' for home feelin' lonely and scared
didn't know what you were tryin' to say back there
but you gave me a look as if I should know
this would be the last picture show

Now you tell me you wanna make love
but sometimes there's things I'm just not certain of
I really thought we had a good thing, ya know
But it won't matter now - that's the last picture show

If you ever remember the good times before
I've loved you a thousand times or more
Just one more thing before I go
Thanks for the time at the last picture show.

Very nicely done! There's some mystery to your poem, and the phrase "last picture show" is really catchy.

Nice rhyming poetic tale. Once again a song like cadence flows in your words. This does make me look back on another time and place and perhaps something very similar to this happening. Nicely done Gayle
