The Last Letter To My Beloved
A day like any other day
I watched you drive away
In your pride and joy
Like a sweet dear boy
In your beautiful red cabriolet
The Police informed me you had died
whilst driving through the countryside
Unable to breathe; I could not believe;
I was swept away in a muddy landslide
So many words we had left unspoken
your spirit has gone; your body is broken
I cannot survive; I wish I had died
together with you in your red cabriolet
A year has gone by, as I still wonder why
you left me alone and bereft
You were taken too soon
our love over the Moon
for it felt like a robbery; a theft
I sit down to write this last letter to you
as I picture our very last day
All my love and devotion is winging your way
And I blow you a kiss, oh so many I’ve missed
My overall vision my darling, my love
Of you driving away on that ill-fated day
But I pause for a while and I cherish your smile
Still clear in my mind, as if yesterday
that I waved you goodbye
watched you driving away
but I know in my heart
I will join you some day
Forever, together in your red cabriolet
