The Kyrielle
My tale was made to be splendid,
So, from heaven I descended,
Born as chocolate as can be.
"O God, be merciful to me."
Land of the free; home of the brave
Made this descendant of the slave,
Who also wanted to be free.
"O God, be merciful to me."
I was brought here to be hated,
So, it can not be debated
That I paid the ultimate fee.
"O God, be merciful to me."
I have been, with tears in my eye,
Exposed, hosed, and HUNG out to dry
With a rope tied to a big tree.
"O God, be merciful to me."
Though I have been hated by some,
Disconnected from where I come,
It is still obvious to see
"God has been merciful to me."
