The Just Because
Inspiration from the Emptiness Statue by sculptor Albert Gyorgy
the hole in my heart is ever growing
and yet, even heavier it seems to be
I wonder, is time ridiculing my knowing
should this vessel regret its’ destiny
the space life occupies, must be vacated
so in hope life passes on its' DNA
for all, the longest night moves on unabated
as the sounds of tomorrow, confront their today
I wandered, then walked with the light for a while
the presence sustained me, I knew no fear
I basked in the sunshine of a smile
sampling delights of rarefied atmosphere
but every journey, is full of fate it seems
pathways cross, until some reach that place
where today then steps out of their dreams
and peace is found in a mirrors’ grace
a man who was whole, said to me be true
to the spirit of believing, in what love can bring
if the beat of your heart, you let all view
then shall all hear what humanity can sing
but this vessel is now weary and aches
an inside losing its’ verve and vitality
seeing only a life of borrowing, that takes
the soul away from songs of humanity
history sees egos sourcing wars of wrath
and the throng emptying all life from the sea
who am I to rage against this chosen path
I am increasingly invisible to the carefree
and so here I sit, where I once stood tall
alone with memories of what once was
listening now for the longest night's call
but knowing I danced with the just because
