The joy of sabotage

Laura thought her colleague Kate was crass
Kate thought Laura was a phony and an ass.
So Laura tweaked the amplifier in Kate’s phone
Made voices faint, so Kate would raise her tone.

Kate snapped at clients, “Speak up! I can’t hear!”
Laura wore a halo while grinning ear to ear.
Customers hated shouting, complaints began to rise
Laura gloated on the chaos, behind her angel eyes.

You can alter a database, if you don't get that raise
You can contaminate a sample, if the foreman don't give praise.
You can alter a rival's research, and then laugh with glee
Or add laxatives in their coffee, and Viagra in their tea.

You can make a coworker look like an incompetent fool
Fiddle with expense reports and watch his boss turn cruel
You can leak Hollywood scripts, or secretly defame
It's whether you win or lose, not how you play the game.

Now it's true the Viagra hit was just meant as a joke
But envy can ruin a life, or make a man go broke.
Sabotage is easy to hide, no mess like with a gun.
Police can't solve a crime if they don't know there was one.

Nurses have put insulin into drinks, let's say into beer
I don't have the details, but weird symptoms did appear
seemed a natural deterioration, but is some cases they were caught
Too late for the victim, what jealousy had wrought.

Now if you feel sick, and doctors are mystified
That doesn't mean some nasty drug to your body was applied
Some of us have lost a job, some have lost a friend
That doesn't mean a saboteur made that relation end.

The probability isn't zero, that’s the trouble with the game.
And depending on the cause, the solutions not the same.
On the borderland of instinct, suspicion, doubt, and fear
The only clue may be sensations, and voices that you hear.

Don't take my word for this, use Copilot or use Bing.
I have reason to believe this is not such a rare thing.
Life hits with enough problems without evil intention.
But there's no end to a malicious mind's invention.
