The Journey Begins
To the three eggs in the brood,
The mother-hen announced:
The journey begins.
But the first egg protested:
I will not be a chick;
Hungry eagles waft in the air.
And the second egg declared:
I will not be a chick;
Looking for crumb to eat.
Only the third egg avouched:
I will not just be a chick,
I will grow comb and crow.
So the two eggs rotted in the brood
And the black ants fed on them.
Only the third egg grew comb and crowed.
The journey Begins,
I will not just be a chick,
I will grow comb and crow.
