The Journey

Our Journey
( for Nequa 1/4/02)

Although it's only been eight years,
since we first met,
Plus the 9 months you spent in my stomach,
A time , I won't forget.

That first birthday.... It came too fast,
Those little feet and hands, they made me laugh.

The 2nd birthday, it came with haste,
As you asserted your self, and claimed your space.

The 3rd birthday was here too soon,
Boy, I could have sworn it was only June!

You were four, busy and bright.
You became my purpose, my joy, my light.

Your fifth birthday was waiting in the wind.
You would become, my new best friend.

At six, a beauty, a precious jewel,
Let your heart be your guide its your best tool.

I woke up one day, and you were already seven,
My true blessing bestowed from heaven.

And now that we've arrived at the present date,
You are a little lady, at the age of eight.

So, I pray and ask God each day,
To walk and comfort you along the way.
To give you courage , wisdom and grace,
So that YOU, might make the world a better place.
