The Jewel of Tears

The child stood in the centre of the great hall Slowly the fingers uncurled A jewel to be seen A jewel began to glow Unfolding light Felt by everyone Wings Soft and bright The child threw the jewel into the air The stone, dissolved into light The other world released With its’ angst and despair Such sweet sadness In a jewel glow That, what we think Of things That cannot be so A yearning That a single tear Can fall Unheeded In the other world That, an angel With a hand uncurled Released the light Of a tear That fell unheeded In the other world

This lovely poem is a true "jewel," Matthew. Love the image of an angel releasing a tear that no one sees (or cares to see). Good work!
