The Jay and Me
Music to my ears,
Tears composed of salt water
Flow to the ocean.
A grey jay blends in
Wings of life singing praises,
The cedar its home.
I thank the framer;
Guilt doesn’t gnaw my conscience
Others chop down trees.
I fear death today
Earth circles the light of life,
Sans the jay and me.
