The Ides of Colonial Park
O’ my betrothed, she said to me,
Upon this wintry essence
Have my leaves fallen –
Laid me bare to the nature of men;
For now can my maple roots see
Their brooding crossways, in pastures
Laden with grass
Suckled of its divinity.
