The Hunt

The solitary predator culls another from the herd while the Serengeti's spectators are unfazed A larger catch would have been preferred But he has been hungry for many days The drought has been cruel and protracted and there isn't even peace in the shade But a remedy to the hunger has been exacted And the hunter's dominance has been displayed Is this the inimitable Panthera Pardus? or perhaps a metaphor for a different "beast" Gnawing on sarcous sinew and corpulent carcass Either way the feast is deceased
