The Human Forsaken

Reason gathered in full
With logic’s arms stretching to pull
The gravity of visible means
Imprisoning us in ways barely seen

Feeling finally lost
And now we can recant the cost
Pointless when we still share
The common bond in this lack of care

Senses shot with relief
Thought sustained with illusory need
Falling down to rise with the clock
Alarms will sound in sensory shock

The routine willing us on
To rout the mind with distancing wrong
Hardly here and barely awake
Where faces blur and nothing’s at stake

Searching to justify me
The only truth in what I will see
Concrete for the walls of my mind
Enough to live and enough to resign

Reason enforced through defeat
The physical denying the key
This gravity conducting our lies
Denying us our invisible eye
