The Hopeful Daughter
There upon the ugly carpet
There blazingly alive
There she plays with a tattered Barbie
A sweet little girl of five
Oblivious to her simple surroundings
Deaf to the sounds of the train
She dreams aloud for mommy to hear
The dreams of a child's brain
I'm gonna marry a king someday
I'm gonna be his queen
He's gonna say I'm pretty
The prettiest he's ever seen
He will love me oh so much
The world for me, he'd give
He will be so merry, mommy
The happiest man to live
And on our wedding day for me
He’ll give a beautiful present
Like stars in the sky he'll throw them
And become for me, a peasant
For I will heal his heart with love
A broken heart I'll mend
And just like that he'll throw it all
His money gone with the wind
