The Hidden Warrior

His unimaginable pain is like a river, Winding deep & long through his heart. Nightmares & flashbacks on the regular, Consume his thoughts from day till dark. Watching scenes unfold that no child should, Induced anger, pain and a silent rage. Years and years of traumatic experiences, Incarcerated his feelings at an early age. I've often wondered how he did it, He shouldn't have made it out alive. A young boy afraid, cold and alone, Teaching himself how to simply survive. My sheltered mind can't begin to comprehend, The severe damage you are carrying deep inside. Watching your heart struggle with her addiction, Planted roots of hurt your eyes can't hide. Despite such an unfortunate childhood, You grew into a great man, sharp & strong. Bootcamps, Grandparents, & positive influences, Revealed The Hidden Warrior inside you all along. Through definite struggles both past & present, Has made each day seem like an uphill climb. God saw fit to bless you with a good woman, To have and hold until the very end of time. Representing everything you wanted in a woman, She is beautiful, loyal and full of selflessness. A long awaited, answered, life long prayer, Who'll replace your pain with her loving tenderness. From the moment we met that day, I knew you were my soul's true love. Your smile ignited a whole new fire. A unique flame sent directly from above. Thank you for choosing my broken heart, You will protect it both day and night. No one has ever made me feel so loved, I finally feel like I did something right. I promise to heal what's shattered inside, No matter how long this road will be. We have the rest of our lives to live, Take my hand and hold on tight to me.
