The Heart of the Sea
The lighthouse shines as she calls her ships home,
as they drift out to sea with high tide they roam.
The moon dances across the majestic sea,
as my soul reaches out longing to be free.
Childhood memories flooding back in my mind,
to a time in my life where I wish I could rewind.
Memories of my mother and I sitting out on the rocks,
as we watched the ships coming in and out of the docks.
A smile on her face with her arm in mine,
mommy's little girl my heart would shine.
Remembering walks with my mother on that golden shore,
as the whole memory captures my essence to it's very core.
Seagulls flying by swooping down on the sand,
digging their claws as if owning the land.
As I close my eyes I can still see my mother as she smiles,
I can still feel her spirit knowmatter how many the miles.
Someday I hope to meet her on those rocks where we'd sit,
with her arm in roped in mine so rightfully fit.
