The Heart of the Matter

All that does matter is the heart in so keeping it pure
It will always be at the start of what you want more
Being your only guide throughout your whole journey
Keep it away from pride for this will unable it to see

Filter it daily with His Grace allowing no evil to enter
Something you can't replace, keep God in the center
Cherish it's wondrous praise in following just behind
Protect it in these days yet I shouldn't have to remind

Let it not harden but be soft and have no sense of hate
In so holding God aloft He will in turn guide your fate
Give of it freely yet always give it some time to rest
You may not agree but for you it only wants the best

It is never too late in knowing such Mysterious Ways
He clears that slate, everything in all of your past days
Yet only you have control in giving it the Grace it needs
For you will end up paying the toll on whatever else it feeds
