The Heart

The heart knows what it wants
But the heart doesn’t make the rules…
Life doesn’t go as planned
People we once loved change into someone new
And yet the heart never stops loving
Behind all the walls and doors
Despite the constant fear
All we want is more

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

This is a heartfelt, accessible poem that captures the tension between love’s persistence and life’s unpredictability. The simple, direct phrasing and recurring “heart” motif give it an honest, intimate quality, while the closing rhyme of fear and more leaves the emotion quietly unresolved in a fitting way.
