The Guiding Hand

Tossed in a stormy sea,
 cast in the darkest gloom,
  lost in a deepening shadow,
I'm not sure which way to turn.

Trapped by my tribulations,
pressed by the thorns of life,
  frightened by the roaring thunder,
   I tremble so helplessly.

But You offer me your hand,
You show me the way to go,
  now I'm alone no longer,
thank You, Lord, for leading me home.

Chasing things that don't matter,
 bewildered and confused,
with no stars to light my way,
   the night scares me so.

Groping in the darkest evening,
 I stumble and I fall;
wounded and crying from the pain,
   I can't see my direction.

Suddenly I see a flickering light
 flashing brightly in the wind,
the Lord is here to save me,
He has come now I fear no more.

Take me, Lord, cleanse my soul,
save me, Lord, be my friend,
show me, Lord, lead the way,
hear, I pray, be my guide.
