The Grim Reaper

It was not the noise that woke them from their gentle sleep,
but a foreboding that was now into their dreams creep.

They sat looking quietly at each other that night,
both awaking to a horrible and ghastly sight.

Between them not a thought expressed or a word said,
something was sitting with them on the end of the bed.

In the dim light they beheld an unusual sight,
One that they would remember forever in their fright.

It spoke no words yet its mouth was open as a maw,
No teeth were seen, but only the blackness of its yaw.

They embraced each other with both screams and tears,
for they knew that an end had come to their lives in years.

It feasted on them and said, "THE GRIM REAPER IS FED"!

This was for the Halloween Contest, but I may have missed the cutoff date.
