The Green-Eyed Woman

In winter’s grasp, an aging woman stands Emerald eyes like jewels gleam Slightly touched by the passing of time But a lifetime etched 'pon her wrinkled hands. Her pressured youth has long passed Yet grace and compassion are retained Wisdom gained through joys and tears Reflected in those eyes pine-green untamed Shamrock eyes, deep stories they hold Many sheltered secrets remain Tales of love and loss will forever bind Her heart to truth that is tamed Behind those eyes, a universe unfolds A journey filled with triumph, joy and fears Like ancient trees, their roots forever hold Essence of her dreams throughout the years

Hi Sara, Your words truly captured this woman so beautifully. Do you think it's true, "the windows being the eyes to the soul" that is? I've seen some gorgeous eyes in my time. As far as Nickey H. goes, some think that she and DeSantis are still enmeshed in our former president. She is very bright and has a lot of prior experience.

Nancy, yes, a person's eyes say a lot about them if you know how to read those eyes. From listening to Haley and Desantis, I think both are intelligent, have some good ideas, and would serve our country well in some capacity at some point in their life. When a person gets in the job of the presidency, things are not so easy to get done. Thanks for the visit..Sara K

This is positively magnificent. "Shamrock eyes, deep stories they hold", sounds like she may be ready to write poetry, or a memoir. I identify with her through your poem. Thank you, good writing.

This is a beautiful poem for me.. they say the eyes are doorways to the soul and I imagine these beautiful emerald eyes hold stories and adventures, even if age has now robbed the words that tell of them. Fabulous, slightly sad but gorgeously poignant. The poem itself holds a story, I'm sure, Sara x (fav)

Tamed and untamed. Either or; the green eyed woman has the eyes that bring attention. It's a charictaristic that stands out for it's beauty and rarity. Well writen.

Puzzling that she could be tamed or untamed. The eyes untamed (can't control their effect) and the heart tamed. Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice review of my work. Sara K

What you wear can bring out the color desired, Andrea. Dark green or dark blue can do wonders. Thanks for dropping by and for taking time to comment. Sara K

This is enchanting is it a real person or is it a metaphor for nature? Your descriptive words are very good..

Oh my, this is such a spellbinding and enchanting write dear Sara, absolutely mystical in its essence, giving me a wonderland feeling with its mesmerizing beauty! How beautifully you've described the elegance of that 'green-eyed woman' who has aged with wisdom and experiences and upholds some deep mysteries..This also can be interpreted in many ways, but, mostly to me, it looks like nature being personified as a majestic emerald queen, in the grasp of winter, yet her season renews every year, wow
