The Greatest Wonder

THE GREATEST WONDER The greatest wonder in the world is not the Taj Mahal, It’s not the pyramids or sphinx, nor the great China Wall. It’s not the hanging gardens there in Babylon so great, It’s nothing that a man can do or any can create. The greatest wonder in the world was on a lonely hill, Where someone died so long ago and all His blood did spill. That love that nailed Him to that cross is the greatest wonder known, That He would die for such as I and not my life disown. No wonder ever will surpass that day on Calvary When He became my sacrifice and died there just for me. Mankind may draw and build great things that get their own renown, But nothing can surpass that gift from heaven that came down. That gift brought me eternal life in a land bright and fair, Where nothing built upon this earth will ever quite compare. The greatest wonder then today is knowing I am loved By my Creator, Saviour, King, who lives in heaven above. He loved me knowing what I’d be, and knowing what I’d do, He loved me knowing of the hell that I was doomed to view. He took that hell and punishment for all my sin that day-- That is the greatest wonder known, what more now can I say? What can I do, what can I build that greater e’er could be Than Jesus dying on the cross, and loving one like me? Oh, Jesus, thank You for that day when You bore all my sin, The greatest wonder of them all that You would take me in! May I be willing now to share that wonder of Your love Until the day You call me to your wondrous home above.
