The Greatest Loss
Staggering I walk in a blanket of despair
I search for you knowing that you are not there
They said of your passing in a short telegram
Beligerance yielding my mind like a dam
The future is chaotic so I choose not to think
Within the bed we shared I fall slowly and sink
Into the deep down pillows tainted with your scent
Reminiscing of our lives together spent
Sleep awaits needy like a child for love
I beg for answers from the Lord above
I must go on, says a voice in my head
I stare to the floor at the tears I've shed
I must rid my soul of the love we shared
But as I close my eyes all I can be now is scared.
