The Gradual Rise

A rush of cold air blows over my skin stirring deep emotions within, and pushed the solitude of hope through the door and anchors the destiny of truth upon my battered soul.

The open trenches of life stares blatantly at me through the creases and cracks between the wooden cellar, and forces a ray of light out of the ground that add comfort to my troubled soul and the parasite crawling on the trees fades away in the tumultuous breeze.

I held my breath and looked around and felt a sudden calm floating in the sky, the trees in the woods kept my company as I contemplate my final destiny.

My hands and feet were strapped but there was no visual sign of that, it’s as if I was lost in time and the guards that usually stand at the gate had left the island and cross over the other side.

Something peculiar was happening and I just could not place my hands on it, there was not one bird in the tree only the buzzing bee sucking the nectar from the isolated house on the barren land. It‘s roots had withered away and the branches were sagging in the sizzling heat that kept disrupting my heart beat.

Tears of hope welled up in my eyes could not flow but perspiration oozes out of my body and saturate my bare skin, the more I dry, the more my body cries, and the lark over yonder enjoying its afternoon supper misinterpret suffering for a happy gathering.

And just when I thought it was over, a savior took my hands and led me to the dance floor and the tears start to flow, I wanted to break loose that shoe that has keep me fastened to the ground and severe the ambition and head of all the sorcerers, clowns and Jinxters in the town, the power of a simple touch can turn your entire life around right there on the dance floor.

It’s like a the weight of sixty eight cement bags was taken off my back, I could stand up straight again and my heart was beating perfectly, it is the outer crust of life that is difficult to understand, and you have got to know where you come from.

I can see you in the distance standing in naked in a coat of blue and light shining all over you, and a black light square shadow from below covering your private bottom.

You stand on that scaffold looking out in the dark as if you were contemplating to jump; you were all over the big screen.

The live image brought tears to my eyes and I knew that someone was going to die, I didn’t know from which angle but a sudden sorrow overpowered me.

I turned off all the lights and plunge to the ground and did not wake up until midnight; and when I checked the news reality stared at me in blue.

“The Apollo eight astronaut who took the iconic “Earthrise” photo showing the planet as a shadowed blue marble from space plane crashed and killed him at age ninety.”

Goosebumps rises upon my skin, the wonders of the earth and outer space has done the weary astronaut in, and at last I was able to rise up out of the dark ,spread my wings and sing.
