The Good Ole' Days

What ever happened to the good ole' days?
Only memories left of those caring ways
When people said just what they meant
And a handshake was good enough for consent
When words were simply taken to heart
And trust never questioned when two would part
Little things noticed, appreciation shared
People made time...to show they cared
Some think of this as the "simple" life
House, kids, a dog...husband and wife
But isn't that what it all boils down to?
When the smoke finally clears ....its your family & you
So lets not get lost or carried away
In this plastic world that we've created today
So much pain, war, confusion and misleading lies
The only REAL innocence left hides in the child's eyes
For they have not yet learned of the worlds wicked ways
So we must teach them, the true values, of the GOOD OLE' DAYS!
                                                Jackie VanWagner
