The Glorious Grandson
They wrote inviting him to come and preach
And lift religion back to its pristine reach.
Alas! a reign of terror turned overnight
Such eager hosts to foes, ready to fight.
He came with family and the devout,
A handful against hordes, unequal no doubt,
For three days bereft of water to drink
In harsh desert, even children, just think!
He was firm in his faith of the hereafter
Preferring death to abject surrender.
Along with the faithful who had fallen there,
His martyrdom is the rarest of rare.
Now he is known as the king of kings,
And the whole wide world his praises sings.
