The Girl On the Rock

A beautiful girl sat on the rock near the sea,
even her tears couldn't hide her beauty.
Her face lit the sad, dark night,
yet she sat their with despair and fright.

Sat for days and nights on the rock,
even though the thorns tore her pretty frock.
Waiting for someone she sits,
through the hot sun, through the cold night chills.

She seemed broken and uncared,
yet for someone she sat.
She clinged onto to hope, the only thing she had,
she clinged so she wont fall to death's own hands.

She sat there on the rock near the sea,
waiting for someone she wished to see.
Even months and years passed,
but she never lost hope and sat on the rock.

This poem is like a somber fairy tale...I envision the moon keeping her company and fog blanketing her from harm. Such a lovely poem. Thanks for sharing your gift.... Gwendolen

A sweet tale of love and loss and faithfulness to the end. :) Actually, it reminds me of my poem, "Lady Bella" that I just posted! How funny to find one with a similar subject on the same day! :D
